Tim Pointer – Founder
Tim has 20 years’ leadership experience, directing business transformation (double-digit growth, mergers, acquisitions & IPO) in global organisations across premium & lifestyle brands, FMCG and retail. Most recently since 2010, as Global HR Director of Pentland Brands, he has led global people strategy across a portfolio of lifestyle and performance brands (including Canterbury, Speedo, Berghaus, Mitre, ellesse, Lacoste & Ted Baker). The strategy and its results have been recognised by a number of awards, including:

He lived and worked in Asia-Pacific for 5 years, leading generalist HR within spirits & wines portfolio JV Maxxium. On returning to the UK, Tim joined Diesel as UK & Eire HR Director, prior to moving to Pentland. He has also worked for Waterstone’s, and began his career as a Grad with M&S.
Tim has founded Starboard Thinking in order to be able to work with Executive teams on strategic development and delivery by enhancing organisations’ culture, leadership and engagement. He is also an executive coach; business speaker; judge for the CIPD and EE Awards; and steering group member for the Engage for Success Task Force and the Strategic HR Task Force.
Tim has an MA from Lancaster University, is a ABP Principal Practitioner, is studying for an MSc at Ashridge, and is a Fellow of the CIPD. He is a failed actor, occasional goalkeeper, learner guitarist and father of three.
